Accessible Design in the Digital World

where theory and reality collide; where ideas and practice merge

23-25 August 2005

Dundee, Scotland

How to create accessible documents in Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF)

Organisor: Hugh Huddy, Digital Policy Development, Royal National Institute of the Blind, UK.

Time: Tuesday 23rd August - Morning

This session provides key knowledge on accessibility standards and presents practical techniques for producing accessible PDFs.

  • Understand why PDFs cause accessibility problems to disabled people through live demonstrations based on real world scenarios
  • Discover which tools and techniques can facilitate the effective production of accessible tagged PDFs and which ones to avoid
  • Learn how to use Microsoft Word and Acrobat 7 Professional to create a range of accessibly tagged PDFs with a series of practical examples

There will be lots of opportunities to ask questions during the main presentation. However, as the subject is extremely wide and the available time is not, we will give the last 30 minutes over to a questions and answers session where we can discuss specific issues relating to your experiences.

Enquiries should be submittied via email to: Hugh.Huddy@rnib.org.uk
